Conversion of my 50cm3 motorbike
As part of a personal technical project, as a age of 15, I completely disassembled my motorcycle from A to Z in order to rebuild and upgrade both the chassis and the engine. Originally equipped with a 50cc AM6-type engine, I transformed the bike into a high-performance machine by installing a Bidalot RF-WR 70cc kit. This upgrade included a Bidalot crankshaft, a Top Performance reed valve system, a 28mm carburetor, and an MVT DD internal rotor ignition.
Throughout this project, I developed and strengthened several key skills:
Mechanical engineering fundamentals through precise disassembly and reassembly of complex engine components.
Hands-on experience with high-performance parts, including tuning and optimizing airflow, fuel delivery, and ignition timing.
Problem-solving and diagnostics, particularly in adapting aftermarket components and ensuring compatibility.
Technical planning and organization, managing each stage from teardown to testing.
Attention to detail and precision, especially when adjusting timing and fitting critical engine parts.
This project was a deep dive into motorcycle mechanics and performance tuning, and it significantly boosted my understanding of two-stroke engines, thermodynamics, and drivetrain dynamics
Evolution of the project

Chassis and Engine Modifications
Beyond the engine, I carried out a complete transformation of my bike’s chassis to improve handling, aesthetics, and overall performance.
I installed a custom-designed graphic kit, giving the bike a unique and personalized look.
The original front suspension was replaced with a fully inverted fork, offering much better shock absorption and front-end stability under aggressive riding conditions.
I also fitted a set of anodized blue wheels, enhancing both the style and durability of the bike.
To integrate these high-performance components—which were not originally compatible with the Minarelli AM6 chassis—I had to machine custom parts. This involved precision fabrication to adapt the new fork and wheel system to the existing frame, ensuring perfect alignment and structural integrity.
This part of the project helped me deepen my skills in mechanical adaptation, custom fabrication, and suspension setup, while pushing the limits of what’s possible in chassis modification.
Engine modifications Overview
As part of a complete performance overhaul of my Minarelli AM6 engine, I replaced all major components to significantly increase power, reliability, and efficiency.
The original 50cc cylinder and piston were replaced with a Bidalot RF-WR 70cc racing kit, providing a major boost in displacement and performance.
The stock crankshaft (39mm stroke) was swapped for a Bidalot RF-WR Replica crankshaft equipped with a reinforced needle bearing, ensuring greater durability at high RPMs.
I replaced the OEM ignition system with an MVT Digital Direct internal rotor ignition, allowing for better ignition timing precision and a noticeable improvement in throttle response.
The stock reed valve block was upgraded to a Top Performances reed valve system with carbon fiber petals, improving airflow and engine responsiveness.
An optimized intake manifold (pipe d’admission) was installed to complement the airflow setup.
The original 16mm carburetor was replaced with a Stage 6 28mm carburetor, significantly increasing fuel and air intake to match the higher engine demand.
Finally, to maintain optimal engine temperature under increased stress, I installed a high-flow water pump, replacing the original one to enhance the cooling system’s efficiency.
